🎟️ this episode, we’re joined by Giuliana Conti, a dedicated researcher, with a Ph.D. in Music Education and years of experience as both a teacher and a leader in student advocacy. She is passionate about ensuring that music education is inclusive, diverse, and impactful. She currently serves as the Director of Music and Equity at Music Workshop, a nonprofit that provides free, culturally responsive music education resources to schools.
Our conversation explores the importance of open-earedness—the ability to listen without bias—and how it shapes both music education and our understanding of different cultures. We discuss the PERMA model of well-being and the role music plays in trauma healing, as well as the fascinating differences between playing and listening to music. We also dive into the impact of AI on the future of music and, on a more personal note, Giuliana reflects on the Bob Marley albums that continue to resonate with her from childhood to today.
